A Day-Long Online Writing Retreat

It's perfect for current and aspiring writers

It seems like you should have been able to set aside time to work on your project . . .

Instead, you ended up answering endless emails that had nothing to do with your work priorities, tending to your children (who you do love but don't write), and just staring at the ceiling hoping to find a way to prioritize what matters to you.

You can make the writing project you value the star of the day with this online writing retreat.

Take one full day to move your project forward with other writers from around the world and get unstuck when you don't write.

Your day is all set up for you.

All you have to do is show up with your writing project.

No travel required.

All you need to do is set up the space that works for your writing.

Wouldn't that be worth it?

A full day to write on your terms!

Bunny slippers and pajamas optional.

What Have Participants Said?

"Writing with a community was less stressful!"

"Rewarding!"

Should you do this? Absolutely if you are:

  • A woman in academia or you have a good story to get down on the page;
  • A woman writer who wants a sense of what writing with support would be like;
  • A woman who has a hard time setting firm boundaries in their personal and professional life that get in the way of writing.

Michelle Dionne Thompson, PhD

I am a coach and an historian. I work with women in law and academia to work so that you are not worn out. You can write without giving up your life. With my support, women have finished and/or made major progress on academic projects including dissertations and books.  I provide opportunities for you to write without burnout.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What does coaching do? We examine what happens when you get distracted from your work and strategize about how to move forward when that happens. It is included with the day, but can only be redeemed during the day.
  2. Does anyone have to know that I'm doing this? No. Everything done over the course of the day is confidential, form the calls, to the writing sessions, to your coaching session.
  3. Is this right for me? It is right for you if you are struggling to make that time for your writing project. It is right for you if you can easily clear time to write and move forward with your project. You may find it particularly beneficial if you are trying to finish your dissertation or are on the tenure track and need to finish some work right away.
  4. I often waste away large chunks of writing time. Can this get fixed? Register ASAP so that we can put a plan together for how you use the day. With planning, you can sort out the specific and particular pieces of your project that you want to shift over the day so you can sit down and get to work on October 19.
  5. All day on Saturday? Yeah, but because you are using Monday - Friday to answer emails, write other things, and with everything else, you aren't moving the project forward. You need time away from your regular life. Let's reset your time so you can leave the retreat having reprioritized your project.
